ANTIPOLO — Tots Carlos believes that her first Premier Volleyball League Open Conference MVP is just the start of her growth as a professional.

Carlos completed her breakthrough conference by winning the MVP plum and leading Creamline to a perfect championship run with a 25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 25-16 victory over Petro Gazz in Game 2 on Friday at Ynares Sports Center here.

When asked about her first pro MVP, Carlos couldn’t help but be reminded of their hardships the past year including last season’s frustrating Finals setback to Chery Tiggo serving as her biggest motivation.

“Like what I always say, all of the tears, sweat, bubble trainings, all that happened last year. I learned a lot from those experience,” said Carlos after scoring 16 points to clinch the title.

“It’s another start for my growth in my career. I’m really looking forward to the next conferences,” she added.

More than the individual honors, the University of the Philippines standout was happy the Cool Smashers were able to “bounce back with good vibes” which had been her team’s mission from the start of the season.

“It’s really fulfilling to bounce back from last year’s (finals loss to Chery Tiggo). It feels great, we’re so happy especially that we did it in front of our fans,” she said.

“We worked hard for this even last year when we fell short. We really wanted to bring back the glory to our team. All the players and coaches were really focus in our preparation for this season.”

Carlos deflected her emergence as Creamline’s newest star, saying their success was thanks mainly to the team’s chemistry as she formed a potent spiking trio with Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza, converting the brilliant plays of Jia De Guzman.

“Our team is like family. We’re very open and everyone’s intention is to help each other. I really love this family,” she said.
