This can definitely take a toll on your digestive system. It can lead to multiple issues such as gas, bloating, constipation, stomach ache, gastric problems, and indigestion.

However, these health issues should not overwhelm the fun of Holi. Rather than popping up medicines for instant relief, try some readily available kitchen items that can help boost immunity, resolve any digestive issue and naturally support the body’s own detoxification process.

Ginger

Ginger is a commonly available spice that is said to have powerful digestive-aiding properties.

It has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, which provide a lot of relief from various digestive issues such as gas, cramping, flatulence and bloating.

Have some ginger tea or dried ginger to facilitate the movement of food through the digestive tract.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is one of the most effective natural foods that can aid digestion.

It is a treasure trove of an ingredient called pectin, obtained from apples in vinegar.

Pectin is very effective in problems like stomach cramps and gas. It is also very beneficial in aiding good digestion, detoxification, and killing bacteria that cause bloating.

Apart from this, the acidic effect of apple vinegar helps increase the levels of acid in the stomach, which is crucial for digestion and removal of any kind of stomach infection.

Banana

Banana is one of the gentlest foods for restoring your digestive system.

This fruit contains a good amount of inulin, a substance that stimulates the growth of good bacteria in the gut.

An unripe banana works effectively to bind the stomach if you are suffering from stomach ailments like vomiting and diarrhoea.

Along with this, bananas are very rich in potassium which is very beneficial for our health.

To get your digestive system back in order after the festivities, your thumb rule must be a banana a day.

Mint

Mint or pudina has been used for centuries to enhance digestion.

It stimulates the digestive enzymes in the system and keeps the stomach cool.

Its anti-bacterial properties can work wonders to provide relief from indigestion and stomach infections.

In addition, it is very effective for irritable bowel syndrome.

Yoghurt

A bowl of fresh, creamy and homemade yoghurt is proven to help regulate the digestive system.

This wonder dairy product is loaded with billions of probiotics or live microorganisms which are basically good bacteria.

These bacteria are known to replenish the flora of your gastrointestinal tract cleanse the intestines, soothe an inflamed or upset stomach, and keep issues such as bloating and constipation at bay.

Kiwi

This tiny fruit is packed with vitamins C and E, besides many digestive enzymes that may be partially helpful with faecal bulking and softening.

It is also is loaded with pepsin which is particularly very healthy for maintaining the proper health of your gastrointestinal processes.

Randomized studies suggest that since the fruit has a high polyphenol content, kiwifruit consumption may confer digestive health benefits.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are super healthy for your digestive processes.

Besides acting as a coolant for the stomach, it is a dependable laxative that relieves constipation.

The soluble fibre in cucumber, erepsin, is very effective in ensuring digestive regularity.

Being rich in nutrients and minerals like calcium, folate, fat, and C vitamins, it is s enormously helpful to aid the treatment of hyper-acidity, heartburn, gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Final thoughts

Maintaining a healthy gut after a day of Holi celebrations is imperative for better overall health and immune function. By making appropriate dietary changes, you can alter the diversity and number of microbes in your gut for the better.

Moreover, you should also frequently opt for preventive health screening. It provides you with vital insights into your health, allowing you to take necessary measures to improve it.

Go ahead, play with colours, and let out the child in you.
